The Sarcascan calendar system is somewhat complex, but also fairly simple. The Material Realm has existed for 4.5 billion years and the universe itself even longer. The years are divided up into Eras, with Ages subdividing a few of them. With each new Era, the number of years is reset, indicating the year number of that Era. The number is followed by the Historical Designation initials of that Era. For example, 35 TED would indicate the 35th year of the Third Era of Dragons. Additionally, each year has 12 months divided into 30 days, totaling 360 days in a year. The months are named after the gods of the pantheon

For those who bother to keep track of the exact day, month and year, it is listed starting with the day number of that month, followed by the month name, and ending with the year designation. For example, the tenth day of the second month of the 50th year of the Second Era of Mortals would be written as 10 Imani 50 SEM. An Age is almost never included in this formula.
